Meet Sunny
Adarsh “Sunny” Hari — educator, school founder, and lifelong champion of education whose spirit lives on in this retreat.

Adarsh “Sunny” Hari · 1974
From Guyana to a life well lived
Adarsh Hari — known as Sunny to everyone who loved him — was born on May 5, 1940, in Uitvlugt on the West Coast Demerara of Guyana. From an early age, Sunny understood a simple truth that would shape his entire life: education is the ticket to a better future.
In Corentyne, Berbice, he joined Rudra Nath and Udai Panday to co-found Rose Hall High School — later merged into the Corentyne Comprehensive High School — and taught for a decade, opening doors for a generation of students. He would go on to document that extraordinary saga so it would never be forgotten.
In 1970 Sunny brought his dream to the United States, journeying from Minnesota to Houston and finally to San Antonio, Texas, where he built a successful career and retired as a respected commercial real estate agent. Through every chapter, he never stopped giving back — supporting the education of students in both his native Guyana and his adopted home.
This retreat and the foundation that bears his name carry that same generous spirit forward — so that Sunny’s light continues to open doors, offer rest, and inspire the next generation.
